Dialight Accepted by Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier Scheme

Acceptance for the Scheme lends confidence to the UK market with independent verification of manufacturer claims for energy efficient products

Newmarket, UK (30 July 2013) – Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), the innovative global leader in LED lighting technology, today announced that it has become an ‘Accredited Supplier’ in the Carbon Trust’s recently launched Green Business Directory. The directory features suppliers which have been independently assessed and accredited via the Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier scheme in order to aid organisations looking to install energy efficient and low carbon technologies.

The news comes on the back of new research from the Carbon Trust that found while 96 percent of businesses surveyed said that energy efficiency is an important consideration when purchasing or upgrading equipment, only half were confident about manufacturers’ energy efficiency claims. 58 percent of those surveyed said that they would benefit from a trusted database of accredited suppliers in advance of purchasing equipment.

Hugh Jones, Managing Director of Business Advice at the Carbon Trust, said: “Our survey showed that return on investment is the most important factor for organisations considering investing in energy efficiency and low carbon technologies – but accurate business cases require accurate information from suppliers. The Green Business Directory will make it easy for organisations to find independently accredited suppliers who have demonstrated their success in delivering sustainable, low carbon solutions in what is a crowded and fast-growing market.”

The accreditation process requires applicants to submit case studies of their work and answer a number of questions –including several on insurance and whether the company holds recognised qualifications for quality assurance, environmental management and health and safety.

“Our independent accreditation by the Carbon Trust demonstrates that Dialight has a significant track record in the design and delivery of successful, high quality, low energy lighting solutions,” said Roy Burton, Dialight’s Group Chief Executive. “Beyond meeting the specific requirements of the Carbon Trust, our products have proven in third-party testing to be highly durable as well as energy efficient. Even under the harshest conditions, our LED systems deliver exceptional lighting and long-life performance that make total cost of ownership a winning proposition for even the most demanding applications.”

In addition to lighting, the Green Business Directory covers key technologies such as AM&T (automatic metering & targeting), HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), controls, compressed air, solar PV, biomass, energy efficient UPS (uninterruptible power supplies) and IT, energy efficient hand dryers and voltage management.

Dialight LED Lighting Products Qualify for Australian SSL Quality Scheme

Qualification for the Scheme lends confidence to the Australian market with independent verification of manufacturer claims for LED lighting products

Farmingdale, NJ (July 15th, 2013) - Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), the innovative global leader in LED lighting technology, today announced that it has had the distinction of having eight of its industry-leading LED lighting products qualify for the Lighting Council of Australia SSL Quality Scheme.  Based on a scheme introduced by the US Department of Energy in conjunction with the US lighting industry, the SSL Quality Scheme is a voluntary industry scheme that provides confidence to the market that a luminaire carrying the Scheme’s label matches certain performance claims made by the supplier.

As Solid State Lighting (SSL) technology has demonstrated its ability to substantially increase energy efficiency across a wide range of lighting applications, the rapid growth of SSL has resulted in an increasing number of new LED products on the Australian market. While Lighting Council Australia notes that there are some excellent LED products available, it observes that the market is also being subjected to underperforming product that does not live up to its supplier’s claims. The Council’s concern is that such poor performing product can undermine confidence among users and discourage early adopters of the technology, potentially resulting in delay or otherwise compromising the substantial energy savings achievable with LED lighting.

In order to participate in the Scheme a minimum set of critical parameters is reported by participating LED luminaire suppliers to accurately reflect the performance of their products. Scheme participants provide test reports or other evidence to Lighting Council Australia verifying their claims and the Council then registers the product on a database on its website (www.lightingcouncil.com.au) and authorizes use of a label owned by Lighting Council indicating conformance to the parameters.

The critical parameters appearing on the SSL Quality Scheme Label are:
• Luminaire efficacy
• Light output of the luminaire
• Measured input power
• Correlated colour temperature
• Colour rendering index

Dialight’s qualifying units include five of the company’s flagship DuroSite® LED High Bay fixtures (HB2C4M-EUH, HB7C4M-EUH, HBGC4P-EUH, HBGCMP-EUH10YR and HLGC4KN-EUH10YR), which boast the largest installed base of any High Bay fixture on the market, along with the DuroSite® LED Low Bay fixture (LBW1C1D-EUH) and two of the DuroSite® LED Area Lights (STW8C2N-EU and STW9C2N-EU).

Beyond meeting the specific requirements of the SSL Quality Scheme, the Dialight units have proven in third-party testing to be highly durable to local conditions, including sand, dust and heat. Even under the harshest conditions, the LED systems deliver exceptional lighting and long-life performance that make total cost of ownership a winning proposition for applications in oil and gas, mining, power generation, water and sewage, food and beverage, cold storage, infrastructure, logistics and other heavy industrial markets.

Dialight DuroSite® LED Conveyor Light Pays Back with Reduced Maintenance

CE compliant LED Conveyor Light designed with precision long-throw optics now available in 60W and 35W options

Farmingdale, NJ (July 1st, 2013) - Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), the innovative global leader in LED lighting technology, today announced the immediate availability of a new style LED Conveyor Light. The fixture is designed specifically for use in harsh environments all too familiar in mining applications, where maintenance of thousands of light fittings installed on kilometres of conveyors and walkways across vast sites is an expensive and ongoing burden.

Carrying a five-year full performance warranty the CE compliant Dialight LED Conveyor Light is L70 rated for >100,000 hours representing minimal lumen depreciation over the life of the fitting. This rating far exceeds many other similar LED solutions and outperforms conventional sources by up to a factor of ten. Its robust construction means that it can withstand the constant shock and vibration commonly experienced in the mining environment, unlike HID fittings that need frequent maintenance and replacement. The IP66 sealed unit is resistant to water and dirt ingress, optimising the longevity of the product. With its clever mechanical design, installation is quick and simple with ingress protection being uncompromised during the installation process.

Designed from the ground up to accommodate Dialight's proprietary long-throw optics, the compact, low-maintenance DuroSite® LED Conveyor Light looks completely different from the traditional street light style fixtures it is intended to replace. Its wide angle optics enable optimised light spread whilst avoiding light spill and glare. With a choice of two wattages, the 35W version typically replaces 70W HID solutions for 9m spacing, while the 60W version enables spacing to be pushed out to 12m at the same time maintaining minimum light level and uniformity requirements.

The DuroSite LED Conveyor Light operates in ambient temperatures from -40°C to + 65°C, exceeding the upper temperature range of any rival, making it suitable for use in extreme environments. Mining installations can also benefit from its instant-on ability, eliminating the lengthy re-strike delays that are common with HID lighting systems.

Considering energy savings, eliminated maintenance and out-of-the-box installation, the Dialight DuroSite LED Conveyor Light will pay for itself many times over in its lifetime.
